 Thanks for the great comments. Yes, I created all the pages in an open-source program called Gimp, then saved them as jpg's and inserted them into the book as full-page images. Good luck with your projects. :-)

 Your book is terrific! I wanted to clone it, but it the layouts do not import. Did you create the images in a diffent program and just import the entire image for each page?
