Review: I've taken to buying my friends these with their favorite historical figures or celebrities on it, its very fun. Only thing is, they take 4 weeks to get here from ordering to delivery (in the US). Make sure to order way ahead of time if you have a deadline. If you opt out of paying a little more for the tracking number, you're left in the dark, hoping it gets there.

Pros: Good Product.

Cons: Shipping time.

Bottom Line: If you want it, buy it, but be willing to wait 4 weeks.

Review: I'm having someone draw me a photo of Rock Lee from the epilogue of Naruto, and as a first-time dakimakura owner, I thought I would give Artscow a trial run, just so I would know what to expect. I chose this time around a render of Lee from a video game. I was super worried that it would look bad, as I had to resize the image considerably and it wasn't sharp to begin with. I thought the print might turn out badly. But I received the daki today and WOOOOW. I love it! I will definitely be using Artscow as my body pillow printer from now on. The print, while blurry due to the image used, was actually sharp enough to look really nice and cute. The only caveat is it is bigger than most body pillows, so I had to stuff it at the bottom and fasten it. Not a huge problem though, it was an easy fix. I can't wait to print my actual custom dakimakura so I can have one to carry at conventions and one to keep on my bed.

All in all, it was useless to worry, as it turned out GREAT. Note that I am a first-time owner of one of these things, so you may feel otherwise. But I will say that the print is excellent and that it is super soft.

Pros: Great print, soft fabric, shipping was relatively fast.

Cons: The photo editor was a bit odd to work with.

Bottom Line: I would recommend this to first-time dakimakura owners and for anyone who would like their anime spouse to be brought to life, so to speak.

Review: I commissioned an artist to do some art of my favorite video game character, Varric from Dragon Age, who I could not find a pillow of anywhere. So when I wanted to get it printed I found Artscow, who had very nice prices for what looked like promising products. I was able to get my dakimakura for $35 altogether--$15 to commission the artist and $20 to have it printed and shipped from Artscow (I used a coupon). Compared to $50-100 for a standard dakimakura that wasn't made for me that's already a great deal!
When the pillow case came in I was pretty anxious about it, because it was the first item I'd received from Artscow. I didn't need to be so nervous: it looks beautiful and very high-quality. The fabric is a very smooth polyester, similar in feel to the "peach skin" fabric other dakimakura sellers use. It takes a print very nicely, with smooth crisp lines. My image was the minimum recommended resolution and it does look as though the edges bled a tiny bit (only a few mm) but I wonder if having a higher resolution image would remedy this. Shipping was pretty quick, not the 7-12 days advertised but about comparable with any eBay seller in the same vicinity of Hong Kong. It came in safe and sound with no problems. I love my dakimakura and am already in the process of getting another commissioned from the same artist for my boyfriend--I will definitely use Artscow for it too. I definitely recommend going the custom-made route to anyone who wants a dakimakura of a character that's not readily available.
